You can configure a connection to Jira using a service account with the following steps.
Create Service Account Credentials
- Create a Service Account in Atlassian administration
- Open the Service Account > Apps tab
- Grant the service account access to Jira and any required Jira projects

- On the Service Account > Create credential tab, select OAuth 2.0 authentication type
- Provide a Name to the credential
- Filter App = Jira and Scope type = Classic
- Select all 7 Scopes in the list and click Next then Create

- Save the Client ID and Client secret somewhere safe, they will not be visible again.
Import the Jira REST Definition
- From the main Navigation Menu > Maintenance and then REST Services.

- On the REST Services page, click the Import Rest Service button.
- This opens the Import Rest Service window allowing you to upload the Json File linked here.

After you have selected the file, you can press the Process Import button.
Add a Jira Connector
- Log into SmartConnect.
- On the left side options column click Connections.
- On the Connections page click on the Create Connection button.

- On the New Connection page click on the Jira icon.
- The page to configure the Jira connection opens.
- Name – Enter the name of the connection.
- Username– Client ID generated previously.
- Password – Client Secret generated previously.
- Atlassian site cloud id – Your Atlassian Cloud Site’s Cloud ID.

- Click Save.
