How To Use Fiscal Period Reporting

In order to use Fiscal Period Reporting, you need to set up your Fiscal Years and Periods first. If you have not done so already, visit How to Create Fiscal Years and Periods.

Once you have added fiscal years and periods, you can use them as filters, along with pre-built ones.  You can easily apply these filters to your lists to create custom fiscal period reports.

Filter by Custom Fiscal Period/Year

The fiscal years and periods you create become available to use as custom filters and you can use them in your lists to:

  • Filter by custom fiscal years – Use this filter to drill into date fields by a specific fiscal year. 
  • Filter by custom fiscal periods – Use this filter to drill into date fields by a specific fiscal period. 

If fiscal period reporting filters are not available in your lists, check that a fiscal year and period exist in your Fiscal years configuration under Settings.  If not, you will have to add a fiscal year or create a fiscal period to use these filters. 


 Filter by Pre-built Fiscal Year

Configuring fiscal year reporting makes pre-built filters automatically available to your lists that allow you to drill into your date fields by the current, following, and previous fiscal year.

You can apply these pre-built filters that drill into your date fields fiscal year, based on the current date:

  • Filter by This fiscal year 
  • Filter by Last fiscal year 
  • Filter by Next fiscal year 
     

Filter by Pre-built Fiscal Period

Configuring fiscal period reporting will automatically make pre-built filters available on your lists that allow you to drill into your date fields by the current, following, and previous fiscal period.

You can apply these pre-built filters that drill into your date fields by fiscal period, based on the current date: 

  • Filter by This fiscal period  
  • Filter by Last fiscal period  
  • Filter by Next fiscal period  

If the pre-built fiscal period reporting filters do not display in your lists, check your Fiscal years configuration under Settings.  To display and use these filters in your lists, add a fiscal year or create a fiscal period. 

To Filter a List by Custom Fiscal Year or Fiscal Period

1. Find a list to filter by fiscal period and open it.

2. Select the Filter icon to add a filter to this list. 

3. In Filters, select Click here to add a filter

4. From the first dropdown, select the date field you want the filter to search in.

5. Select the Edit icon after Equals and then select Fiscal periods to filter by it.

6. Click the dropdown next to Fiscal year to select the fiscal year and fiscal period to filter by.

If you create multiple fiscal years, you can see them in the list along with the periods defined in each one. 


7. Make your selections then select Save to apply the filter.

8. For the field you selected, if there are records in the date field that fall within the fiscal period, you will see them in the filtered list. 

To Filter a List by Pre-Built Fiscal Year or Fiscal Period

1. Locate a list for filtering and open it.

2. Select the Filter icon to add a filter to this list. 

3. In Filters select Click here to add a filter.

4. From the first dropdown, select the date field you want the filter to search in.

5. Select the Edit icon after Equals and then select Compare fields to filter by comparison.

6. Select the dropdown next to Select comparison and then select the fiscal year or period to filter by.  You can filter by This, Last, or Next for both fiscal year and fiscal period.

7. Select the option you want to filter by and then select Save to apply the filter.

8. If there are records in the date field that fall within the filter that you selected, you will see them in the filtered list.
