Creating a Dynamics 365 Business Central Real-time Data Source

Business Central web hooks cannot be triggered by a delegate admin. The user testing the trigger in Business Central must be assigned a license.

  1. In SmartConnect navigate to Data Sources > Realtime Triggers.
  2. Click Create Realtime Trigger in the top right of the screen.
  3. Select Dynamics 365 Business Central OData Real Time from the list.
  4. Description – Friendly description for data source.
  5. Connection – Select a Dynamics 365 Business Central connection
  6. Company – Select the Company to track.

If this trigger is needed on multiple companies, a separate data source will need to be created for each company.

  1. Entity – Select the table to track.
  1. Click Select Fields and select the desired fields to add to the source query.

  1. Click Save to close the window.
  2. Optionally, click Add linked service to include additional details beyond the standard fields.
  • In the Linked service selection window select the service to link.
  1. Click the Select fields button on the linked service to add desired fields from the linked service.
  1. Optionally, add additional fields from a child service of the linked service by click the Add child service button.
  2. Click Select fields to select any fields desired from the child service.
  3. Repeat steps a-c for other Linked Entities as desired.
  1. Click Save.
  1. Navigate to Processes > Integration Processes > Click Add new.
  2. Provide an Integration Id and Description.
  3. Click on the Source tab
  4. Source Type – Select ‘Real-Time Event’.
  5. Source – Select ‘Dynamics 365 Business Central Odata Real-Time Data Source’.
  6. Data Source – Select the previously configured data source.
  7. Entity – Will automatically populate with the Entity to which the source is linked.
  8. Add at least one field to the Group By list

  1. Map at least one field to the destination to save the integration.
  2. Click Save.
  3. Click Register.
  4. At the bottom of the screen check the boxes for events that will trigger the integration.
  5. Click Register.
  • Trigger is now registered in Business Central.
