How to Navigate This Error: Login failed for user ‘smartview’
This video walks you through how to navigate this error: ‘Login failed for user 'smartview'
We will go through why this happens—often after a reinstall—and how to fix it quickly. The issue is usually due to a password mismatch or missing DYNGRP permissions.
Fix in 2 Steps:
- In SQL Server Management Studio, reset the smartview user's password and confirm:
- Access to all GP company databases (excluding DYNAMICS)
- Default schema is dbo
- Assigned to DYNGRP in each company DB
- In Dynamics GP, go to Tools > SmartView > SmartView Setup and re-enter the password.
Once synced, the login error should be resolved. If you'd like to read the help article that goes with this, click here.
