How to Navigate This Error: ‘You do not have security privileges to view all of the tables used in this SmartList’

In this video, we troubleshoot a common error when using SmartList Builder with SQL Views in Microsoft Dynamics GP. Even if you've granted DYNGRP permissions, assigned the right security roles, and run grant.sql, typical users may still hit a permissions error — while the 'sa' and PowerUser roles may work fine.

Pat Roth walks through why this happens and explains two key checks:

  1. SQL Table Security – Ensure the SQL View is enabled in Tools → SmartList Builder → Security → SQL Table Security.
  2. SmartList SQL Table Access Permission – Make sure the "View SmartLists with SQL Tables" permission is assigned in the security task.

Once that’s done, regular users will be able to run the report just like PowerUsers. If you'd like to read the help article that goes with this, click here.
