When it comes to updating Business Central (BC) to a new major version, Popdock customizations are always a consideration, because they include any Query Builder lists and embedded widgets you use in your day-to-day activities. Updating major versions can break these customizations, disrupting your workflow.

This guide will cover the aspects you need to check and verify after updating your Business Central environments.

Updating the Popdock Customizations extension
After upgrading your BC environments, your Popdock Customizations extension will be outdated because it still reads the previous major version of BC. This will need to be cleaned up and updated to work with the new versions. Follow these steps:
1. Go to your BC environment and use the universal search (magnifying glass in the upper-right corner) to search for Extension Management.
2. In Extension Management, use the search to find Popdock Customizations.
3. Once you have found it, click the three dots next to the name and then click Unpublish.
4. Once unpublished, click the three dots again and then click Uninstall.
5. Repeat steps 1-4 for all environments being used (typically a sandbox and a production environment).
6. Once the Popdock Customizations extension is cleared from all environments, return to Popdock and publish your customizations from your sandbox connector first. Here is the article on how to do that.
7. Once the extension has been republished to your sandbox, go to your production connector and publish it there as well. Here is the article on how to publish the extension.
After publishing to production is complete, you will be able to use your Popdock customizations once more.
Additional issues that may occur
In some cases, updating BC may remove your main Popdock extension. If this happens, you will need to reinstall it. Here is the article on how to install the main Popdock extension in BC.
