Sandbox environments in Business Central can be created and removed at any time. This can create issues with your Business Central sandbox connector in Popdock, particularly with the Query Builder.

Since the Query Builder requires a sandbox environment to publish to before moving to production, deleting a sandbox can cause issues with this process. When a new sandbox environment is created in Business Central, you can modify the existing Popdock connector to work with the new environment, rather than building a brand-new connector. This approach will save you time and preserve your existing configuration. This article will cover how to modify your existing Business Central connector and point to the new Business Central sandbox environment.

If you’d like to watch a video demonstration of this, see below or click here.

1. Locate your new sandbox environment name

The first step in adjusting the connector is to get the name of the new sandbox environment. This can be found inside of Business Central in a few different spots. Refer to the article below to aid in finding the locations where the environment name can be found.

2. Update the environment parameter

Log into Popdock and select Connectors, from the main menu. Find your Business Central connector and then click the Edit button. In the left navigation pane, select Edit settings.

Once you click this, the connection parameters for your connector will be displayed. On this screen, enter the Microsoft Entra tenant ID in the Tenant ID field. Enter the name of the new environment in the Environment field.

The environment name must match exactly as it appears in Business Central. This includes case sensitivity, spaces, punctuation, etc.

3. Refresh and validate your connector

Once you have entered the new sandbox environment information, you will need to connect. Click the Connect button. You will be prompted to enter your Business Central credentials to validate the connection. Once you complete the credentials step and verify the connection, the Business Central connector will be refreshed.

4. Republish custom resources

Once the Business Central connector refresh has finished, the connector will then be pointed to the new sandbox environment. You will then need to republish any Query Builder lists and embedded widgets into the new sandbox environment. Once republished, your custom Popdock resources will be fully operational in the new sandbox environment.
