SmartConnect Roadmap – Monthly Updates

April 2026 – Beta Release

The Beta release is available as of April 10th, and the core infrastructure and user experience will be available for early access testing.

New Infrastructure

  • Simplified databases – fewer joins and records in the database. Providing faster query and write performance.
  • Logging databases – configuration is stored in a separate database from transactions and logging. Improving frontend performance.
  • Unified caching – all services use the same cache so they are updated at the same time.
  • Distributed processing – each map execution runs on its own isolated microservice, so one customer’s workload never impacts another’s performance.

User Experience

  • Easier to use – consistent eOne look and feel aligned with the recent Popdock release
  • Standardization – all connectors support the same options and use standardized naming and feature availability.

Target Enhancements

  • Destination lookup cache – configurable option to cache destination lookups at run time. Improving performance and reducing API usage on target system.

Security

  • Granular security model – role-based user security with fine-grained permissions. Control exactly who can view, edit, or run specific integrations.

Connectors Available at Beta

  • Dynamics 365 Business Central
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Flat Files (including FTP, OneDrive, and SharePoint)
  • Popdock

May 2026

This builds on the beta version with lifecycle management, monitoring, and security.

Lifecycle Management

  • Drafts – allow partial setup and editing of an integration without affecting the live version. Make changes safely without risking production integrations.
  • Audits – track all changes to a connector, source, or integration. Know who changed what and when for compliance and troubleshooting.
  • View deleted objects – view the details of a deleted Connector, Data Source, or Integration Process.

Monitoring

  • Integration health dashboard – more feedback on integration processes
  • Running processes view – real-time visibility into all running processes regardless of who started them or how they were initiated. Monitor status, identify issues, and cancel any running process.
  • Scheduler email frequency – setup the scheduler to notify on your desired frequency. Batch multiple failed runs into a single email notification for easier management.

User Experience

  • In-app help – get quick access to help for the specific area currently being used

AI

  • Export documentation to Markdown – export integration configuration as Markdown for efficient reading by AI clients. Give AI tools full context about your integrations without manual explanations.

June 2026 – General Release

Source Enhancements

  • Restrictions on all sources – apply standard filtering restrictions across all source types. Apply filters even if the source connector doesn’t support it natively.
  • Calculations on all sources – add calculated columns and expressions across all source types. Transform data at the source without relying on destination-side logic.

New Connectors

  • Salesforce (built on the REST API)
  • Oracle NetSuite (built on the REST API, OAuth 2.0 support)
  • Generic REST (Including: Linked child data sources and API request logs for debugging)

User Experience

  • Process Canvas – visual interface showing how processes are interconnected
  • Import Wizard Redesigned – New import wizard with full edit access before import

July 2026

Platform Extensibility

  • API – full CRUD and OAuth support

New Connectors

  • Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations (built on the REST API)
  • Dropbox (for use with file data sources and destinations)
  • Google Drive (for use with file data sources and destinations)

August 2026

Source Enhancements

  • Include result in scripting for all lookups – if the result of a lookup or additional column requires further transformation, it can be handled directly in scripting
  • Source-side lookups – perform lookups at the source level before data reaches the destination. Enrich or validate data earlier in the process to simplify mapping logic.
  • New query builder interface – revamped query builder experience modeled after Popdock. Standardizing experience across eOne tools.

AI

  • MCP – powerful MCP server to automate and accelerate building and maintaining integrations on the platform. Let AI clients create, configure, and manage integrations directly.

Lifecycle Management

  • Restore deleted objects – restore a deleted Connector, Data Source, or Integration Process

Security

  • Integration-level security – Limit user access to specific integrations.

New Connectors

  • Zendesk (dedicated connector with Bulk, Change, and Realtime support)
  • PostgreSQL (selectable database provider for all SQL features)
  • MySQL (selectable database provider for all SQL features)

September 2026

Source Enhancements

  • Target Response Source Type – the source of an integration can be the response from a target on another integration (e.g. writeback a generated ID to the source system of a newly created record).

AI

  • SmartConnect plugin – a dedicated AI plugin that bundles the MCP server with pre-built skills for integration builders. Automate common workflows from within the AI tools you already use.

Platform Extensibility

  • Excel Add-in – enhanced modern Excel add-in available on AppSource.

Deployment

  • On-premises support – Deploy SmartConnect

New Connectors

  • HubSpot – Dedicated HubSpot connector for reading and writing your CRM data, built on the HubSpot REST API with OAuth 2.0
  • Shopify – Dedicated Shopify connector built on the GraphQL Admin API, Shopify’s go-forward standard, so your integrations are built to last
  • Dynamics GP – Powered by eConnect, available from both the on-premises and cloud deployments of SmartConnect (the cloud deployment reaches on-premises GP through a gateway)

October 2026

Source Enhancements

  • Multi data source – combine data from multiple sources within a single integration. Join datasets from different systems without building multiple integration processes

New Connectors

  • Concur – Dedicated connector for Expense and Payables integrations extract approved expense reports and invoices into your ERP, and sync master data back into Concur

November 2026

New Connectors

  • Microsoft Fabric Lakehouses – Write data directly to Microsoft Fabric Lakehouses using Open Mirroring
  • Google Sheets – Add Google sheets as an API connector presenting tabs as table like sources and destinations
  • SharePoint Lists – Add SharePoint lists, with each list presented as table-style data sources or destinations

December 2026

New Connectors

  • DataBlend – enabling DataBlend Collectors, Queries, and Data Targets for use in your existing SmartConnect.

Looking Ahead: Future Areas of Focus

Throughout the rest of 2026 and beyond, we will bring even more features to the new SmartConnect.

  • Migration tool – migrate mapping configurations from existing SmartConnect Hosted and SmartConnect 21 environments into the new platform. Move to the new SmartConnect without rebuilding your integrations from scratch.
  • AI Connectors – run AI transformations and ask questions about your SmartConnect environment.
  • Data Source Optimizations – compression and optimization to data source data models to reduce resource consumption and improve speed.
