Updating Business Central SmartConnect Change Tracking Extension

A new version of the SmartConnect Change Tracking has been published to Microsoft AppSource.  This extension fixes tracking that fails when the table caption does not match the table name and introduces new restriction filtering operators.  This article will step through installing the new extension.

Uninstall Previous Version

  1. In your Business Central instance, navigate to the Extension Management page.
  2. Find SmartConnect Change tracking and click the Show More Options button and choose Uninstall.
  3. Click the Uninstall button.  If you want to completely uninstall all data from the old extension, set the Delete Extension Data to enabled.  This will give you 2 warnings, and all currently tracked data waiting to be processed by current SmartConnect integrations and all change setups will be removed.  Existing SmartConnect integrations will no long track data.ConfirmUninstall

Installing the New Extension.

  1. On the Installed Extensions page, click the AppSource Gallery button.OpenAppSource
  2. Search for SmartConnect and choose SmartConnect Change Tracking.ChooseSmartConnect
  3. Click the Install App button.InstallApp
  4. The new extension will be installed and ready to use once the status shows as Completed on the Extension Installation Status page.

At this point the extension will continue to function as it did with the previous version unless you cleared all extension data.  If you cleared all extension data, you would need to recreate the tracking triggers by creating new integrations or resaving existing integrations.

SmartConnect.com Configuration

There is no additional configuration currently for smartconnect.com.  In a future update to smartconnect.com the new functionality for the restriction operators will be added.

SmartConnect 21 On Premise Configuration

To use the new extension features, your SmartConnect version needs to be 21.1.0.1633 or later.

  1. Open you Business Central connection in SmartConnect.
  2. Change the Extension Version to 21.0.0.1
  3. Save the connection.
  4. Change data sources will now have more operators to choose from.SCOperators
  5. If you edit an existing change source to use new operators that was using the previous extension, you will need to resave the integration(s) to update the triggers.
