SmartConnect email task fails with error: An invalid character was found in the email header

I have created a SmartConnect email task and entered in multiple email addresses.  I have the same valid addresses on other email tasks that work fine however on this map task, SmartConnect throws the error:

An invalid character was found in the email header: ‘,’

The issue is the format of the email address and the comma used to separate the email addresses values.

Upon inspection of the “working” and “non-working” email tasks, we found that the working one had a space after the comma and the non-working one did not.

If I added the space after the comma – the Test (and task) worked fine.
