I’m using SmartConnect 21 and a Perpetual License.
I’m able to launch the SmartConnect User Interface and can log in and run my maps fine – however the windows tries to Start but then Stops. If I look in the Windows Event Viewer for the SmartConnect Event Log, it gives the error:
This SmartConnect database SC2021 on server eone-2014\eone is not active.

Since the SmartConnect UI lets me log in correctly, I’m not sure why the Service does not start. The customer believes that the SmartConnect database may have gotten restored from a SQL backup but wasn’t sure.
I believe that a SQL database restore is what did happen.
To reactivate the database fully, the steps would be in the eOne Configuration Tool
1: The database is currently Active on the eOne back-end but we need to be able to re-activate the database locally. Because it already shows “Active” in the configuration tool (and since we can log in from the UI), first we need to do is “Retire” this database.

This will then mark the database as “Inactive/Retired” both locally and the back end systems.
2: At this point, the selected database is just another inactive database and so we can now make it active again.

Select to Activate it which will now mark it again as “Available” on both the local database and back end.
3: Lastly, now the database is “Available” again – but it isn’t set to the “Active” instance for this connection.
Right click on that same database and choose “Set Active Instance”

You will have to set up the credentials for this “new” database as you typically would.
After doing this, the eOne SmartConnect Service should start normally.
