If a user needs to build or manage Favorites, follow these guidelines for assigning roles:
System Roles
- FavoriteReader
Allows the user to view the details of Favorites created by all users, but they cannot make any changes or updates to the Favorite. Requires that the user also has the Reader role under the Connector Roles. This role does not allow the user access to any Favorite unless the Favorite is shared with this user.
- FavoriteAdministrator
Allows the user full access to any Favorite. They will have permission to lock, unlock, delete, update, change ownership of any Favorite, or add themselves to the Favorite to gain access to it. All access is dependent on having the Reader role under the Connector Roles. If this is not assigned, they can’t access Favorites on the connector.
Connector Roles
- Reader
Allows the user to view connector details and metadata. Users can see information about the connector and its settings but cannot make changes. Combined with the FavoriteReader or FavoriteAdministrator system role, the user can access the connector and get to the Favorites after editing a list. See the description for these System Roles above to see what each allows the user access to do. - User
Allows viewing data from the connector. Access is limited to the companies, lists, actions, and details that you explicitly grant permissions to. Favorites will need to be shared with the user in order for them to view the data.
Notes on Favorite System Roles
- Assigning the System Roles doesn’t automatically give users access to favorites. Combined with the Connector Roles and the Favorite being shared with the user, they then get access to favorites on the connector.
- FavoriteReader + User = Access to only view the data from a Favorite that has been shared with the user.
- FavoriteReader + Reader = Access to edit the connector that Reader role has been assigned to and only able to view the details of any favorites on a list that they have permission to. The user will not have access to run the Favorite unless the User Connector Role is assigned.
- FavoriteAdministrator + User = No access to edit connector, will only be able to view data of favorites that are shared with the user.
- FavoriteAdministrator + Reader = Access to edit connector and access to edit lists that the user has permission to. They can then access favorites on a list and will be able to do everything outlined in System Role information above.
