Multi-factor Authentication and SmartConnect 21

With SmartConnect 21 build 1523 (21.1.0.1523), the capability for multi-factor authentication was added.

To enable it, follow these steps.

  1. Go ot the security tab and then select Password Policy

  1. On the bottom portion you should have the option to enable multi-factor authentication.

  1. Once enabled the next time you log into SmartConnect, you receive an Authenticator form. You will need to use an authenticator app, such as Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator, to finish the setup. Once that is done, MFA is setup for the user and SmartConnect will request additional verification every time they log in.

Resetting the MFA Secret

If you needed to reset the MFA Secret, you can do so in the User Setup window.

  1. Open the user Setup window by going to Security and double clicking on the User to reset the secret for.
  2. Click the “Reset MFA Secret” button.
