How to setup the SmartConnect web service to allow real time integrations between Microsoft Dynamics GP and CRM 2011 or CRM 2013 online
The SmartConnect web service must be accessible externally. You will need to open a port that will allow external access to your SmartConnect web service. By default the port is 5556. The following criteria also apply when setting up the SmartConnect web service.
1. Only the HTTP and HTTPS protocols are allowed.
2. Access to localhost (loopback) is not permitted.
3. IP addresses cannot be used. You must use a named Web address that requires DNS name resolution.
4. Anonymous authentication is supported and recommended. There is no provision for prompting the logged on user for credentials or saving those credentials.
