Using Excel 2007 driver if you don’t have Excel loaded.

If you are getting errors where leading zeros are getting truncated off string fields, or a alphanumeric field shows up as an integer you can resolve this by using the Excel 2007 driver, even if you don’t have Excel 2007 loaded.

Download the Microsoft Excel 2007 driver from here: 2007 Office System Driver: Data Connectivity Components Even if your Excel file is a 2003 or earlier version, download and install the Excel 2007 driver from the link above, then change your ODBC connection to use the Excel 2007 driver. This will typically resolve issues where incorrect datatypes are being returned from Excel.
