Have you ever needed to lookup a value based on multiple source fields combined? In this article, we will go over the process of concatenating two Source Fields and then using that concatenated value inside a lookup.

If you’d rather watch a video demonstration, see below or click here.

  1. Create a new Calculated Additional Column in your SmartConnect integration.
    calc
  2. Then write a simple script to combine two source fields. To do this, expand the Source Columns tab on the left. After the word return, either drag and drop or enter the name of the first Source Column. Then enter a ‘+’ sign followed by the second Source Column. For my example, I will combine the item name and quantity. Then, press validate to validate the script and click OK to save the calculation.
    calc2
  3. Next, create a new Lookup Additional Column. Enter the fields, these will differ depending on what connection and lookup type is being used. Then under Filter Fields, match the destination field to the calculated field created in the last step. Click OK to save the lookup.
    calc4
  4. Then, map the lookup field in your integration, and you will have successfully set up a lookup based on a concatenated value!
