The following resolution was taken from an exercise in the SmartConnect training manual and shows how to grant users access to the SmartConnect Run Map window along with any associated windows and processes. Note that these steps do not cover setting up security inside of SmartConnect. Users in SmartConnect will need permissions to the appropriate windows and maps as well.
Follow these steps to set up GP security for the Run Map window: GP
- Go to Tools – Setup – System – Security Tasks. This will open the GP Security Task window.
- Enter RUNMAP as the Task ID, and enter “Run SmartConnect Map” as the Task Name
- Enter “Allow users to access the SmartConnect Run Map screen” in the Task Description
- Select Company as the category
- Select SmartConnect as the Product, Windows as the Type, and Company as the Series
- Place checkmarks next to the following Operations in the Access List:
- SmartConnect Launcher
- SmartConnect Process Errors
- SmartConnect Run Map
- SmartConnect Run Map Process
- SmartConnect SQL Background
- SmartConnect Table Upgrade
- Click the Save button and close the window
- Go to Tools – Setup – System – Security Roles.
- Enter SMARTCONNECT_BASIC as the Role ID
- Enter “SmartConnect Basic User” as the Role Name, and enter “SmartConnect Basic User Permissions” as the Role Description
- Select Company from the Display drop down list
- Place a checkmark next to the RUNMAP Security Task ID in the list and hit the Save button and close the window
- Go to Tools – Setup – System – User Security
- Click the magnifying glass next to the User field and select [your user] as the user
- Select [your company] as the Company
- Place a checkmark next to the SMARTCONNECT_BASIC Security Role ID in the list
- Save and close the window
- Logout of GP and log back in with the User ID of [your user]
- Go to Tools – SmartConnect – Run Map to confirm the user has access to the window
