Displaying USPS Tracking Information through an IFrame Detail

If your company uses tracking numbers for shipping, Popdock can present your tracking history as a detail on a list. In a previous article, we outlined how our Shipping Connector can be used to link to a specific field that is storing a tracking number to display shipping information in a card format within a detail (How to Setup a Shipping Carrier Connector to Show Tracking Information). Alternatively, if you prefer to view the tracking information through USPS’ interface, you can use an IFrame detail to display their user interface within Popdock.

Note: You will need a field within your list that contains tracking information as it relates to the list you want to display. In this example, I am using my Sales Transactions list from my Dynamics 365 Business Central Connector.

1. From within your connector, select the list you want to add the shipping detail to and then click Edit.

2. Select Details in the left Settings menu.

3. Select Add and then select iFrame.

4. On the Detail settings page, use the Name field to give your detail a name.

5. In the IFrame URL field, enter the following URL for USPS’ tracking interface: https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction?tRef=fullpage&tLc=2&text28777= . You can also select how you want your detail to display using the Display method drop down menu. In this example, the detail will appear In the sidebar.

7. With the Detail settings configured, click Parameters under the left Settings menu.

8. Select t Add a URL parameter.

9. In the Key field, type tLabels. In the Value field, click the icon on the left and select Field. Then select the field for your tracking number. Finally, click Add.

10. This detail is now ready to use. Navigate back to the Popdock homepage and add your list as a new tab. You can then select the record from within your list that contains the tracking number. Select a record and then click the tracking detail.

11. You will now see the USPS Tracking user interface within your detail.
