When working with Business Central in Popdock, there are some errors that can be thrown in multiple different areas. These are some of the common errors that are thrown when using Popdock with Business Central and here is how you can resolve them without the need of support or development.

Resource Segment Not Found error

This error appears when trying to view a Query Builder list. The primary cause is that Popdock is unable to retrieve the metadata of the list at runtime, causing it to throw this error. The fix for this error is to republish your list to Business Central. This will insure that you have the most recent version of the list published and that it is confirmed to be published to Business Central. This error can also show up if you try to view a list immediately after publishing. If that is the case, that means that although it has finished publishing in Popdock, the extension has not finished installing inside of Business Central. Simply close the list and give it a few minutes and then try reopening the list and it will then return your data. The status of the publishing can also be checked within Business Central by going to the “Extension Management” page and clicking on “Installation Status“. This will show the current status of the install for the extension and whether it has completed or not.

Tables are not showing up in the Query Builder

When using the Query Builder, if there are not tables showing up to be selected, then it is an issue with the Publishing Company in the connection settings. The error message thrown will be something along the lines of: “There are no tables to be added” or a message relating to the company not existing. This can be resolved through insuring that the publishing company is using the Name (the database name) rather than the Display Name. The article below covers the process for finding the publishing company within BC. Once that is found, click Edit Settings in the connector, paste in the correct name, and click connect and complete the BC login verification.

Dimensions not showing up to be added on my lists

If you are adding dimensions to your lists and they are not populating in the list where they are added, then this also stems from the publishing company. You will want to follow the same steps as the issue with the tables in the Query Builder not showing entry.

Lists not loading data

If your BC lists are not loading data at all, the connection will need to be refreshed as the verification between Popdock and BC will expire after 90 days of inactivity. To do this, you will need open up the BC connector and select “Edit Settings“. From there, click Connect and you will then be prompted to re-authenticate the connection with BC by logging in. This will use your BC credentials. Once done, the connection will be refreshed, and your data will be returned.
