Understanding Popdock user security is one of the most valuable resources for companies using the product. Ensuring the right people have access to the right data (and the wrong people aren’t accessing the wrong data) is just one of the ways Popdock delivers powerful, secure value to any business.
To help you better understand, here’s a quick overview of each type of security role and how to use them effectively. Below are examples of roles you can assign to users based on their responsibilities in Popdock.
SecurityAdministrator
This is the most important role to consider. A user with this role can assign themselves any other role in Popdock. It should be reserved for users who will be fully administering Popdock.
It’s also worth noting that if your organization only has one administrator with the SecurityAdministrator role, and they are unavailable, you will need to work with eOne to assign another user SecurityAdministrator.
User (Connectors)
Even with the connector Administrator role assigned, a user will not be able to view any data without the User role assigned.
Popdock Administrator
The Popdock Administrator is the role in your business who will maintain Popdock for all other users. Your organization may benefit from multiple Popdock Administrators or using a service account for this role. This is the role that should have SecurityAdministrator assigned to it.

List Creator
List creators are the individuals who prepare data for other users.

Manager
The Manager role may be interchangeable with the List Creator role in your organization. The important distinction here is that with these permissions a manager will be able to see how things are configured but will not actually be able to make any changes to the configuration.

End Users
This role will likely have the fewest permissions assigned to it, but don’t be afraid to grant any permissions that your team needs to be successful. Your organization may even need a super user role in between End Users and List Creators to meet your needs.
