Throughout 2025, we’ve transformed partner requests into powerful new SmartConnect Features for Microsoft D365 Business Central. Each new feature reflects the real needs of our users and is designed to streamline your integrations and save you time.

We’re excited to share the new 2025 SmartConnect features for Microsoft D365 Business Central.

Service-to-Service Authentication

Authenticate to Dynamics 365 Business Central without the use of a Microsoft user account. Simply set up an Azure app and use it to connect to D365 Business Central with SmartConnect.

The existing user impersonation authentication method is still available where a user with a D365 Business Central license enters their email and password, granting SmartConnect the same permissions the user has in D365 Business Central.

Service-to-service authentication eliminates the need for a Microsoft user and defines what permissions the application has access to within D365 Business Central. This approach is more secure, auditable, and easier to trace and control than standard user credentials.

Updated Change Tracking Extension

Accessing table-level data, along with tracking changes and deletes, in D365Business Central can be difficult. SmartConnect change tracking makes it easy.

The updated change tracking extension offers more data filtering options, easier localizations, and easier maintenance controls for clearing change records or change setups. Take advantage of the updated filtering options to make your integrations cleaner and more reliable.

Connect 3rd-Party and Custom APIs

Connect to any custom APIs or 3rd-party APIs published in Dynamics 365 Business Central with SmartConnect.

Custom APIs are designed by developers to extend functionality beyond the standard API set. This flexibility ensures you can select the best API type for your specific integration needs while maintaining a simple setup process. No additional setup required; just configure and connect.

Check out the documentation to see how you can set up an integration to the Dynamics 365 Business Central OData API.

Bound Actions

SmartConnect supports Bound Actions out of the box, allowing automated actions for certain records. Bound Actions allow you to execute actions on a record (ex. Ship and Invoice a Sales Order).

Instead of having to run actions manually in D365 Business Central, SmartConnect has more capabilities to automate the process based on the data imported. Trigger D365 Business Central operations on specific records automatically with SmartConnect; no developer required.
