When installing SmartConnect 2018, receiving a message that says, “There is a problem with this Windows installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.” I downloaded the SmartConnect install file again, and still receive the same error.
SmartConnect installs a sql.dll file in the temp folders during the installation so that it can make a connection to the SQL server in order to create the SmartConnect database. The anti-virus software “Webroot SecureAnywhere” sees this dll file as a Trojan and removes it before the install can complete. The solution is to disable “WebRoot SecureAnywhere” anti-virus, then install SmartConnect while it’s disabled. After the install is complete you can enable the software again.
