When you create queries with Popdock’s Query Builder, you must first publish to a sandbox environment before you can promote the customized extension to production. Popdock eliminates the need for AL programming knowledge or developer assistance. The following tips can help you identify potential issues with publishing and guide you in resolving them.
Prerequisites
- Install the latest Popdock Extension from the Extension Marketplace in your Business Central sandbox environment. (Ensure you are running version 1.0.0.20 or higher) If you plan to promote to production, confirm the extension is installed in production as well.
- Connect your Business Central sandbox environment to Popdock. If you will be promoting to production, you will also need a Business Central Production connector. You can confirm these connectors are working by simply adding a default list to a new tab and verifying it returns data.
- Verify you have matching extensions installed in both sandbox and production environments. This is critical when your queries use special fields that were added by another extension.
Publishing Your Customization Extension

Above is an example of a simple, single query extension that has been successfully published. Although Popdock should display any errors, there is always a chance that Microsoft has made some changes that may prevent an error from being displayed.
Below are common scenarios that may occur when you publish an extension and workarounds to issues you may encounter.
Scenario 1: “Resource not found” error
Once the query is published successfully, it should display data from the sandbox environment. However, if you get the error “Resource not found…”, this could mean either the extension still needs to finish publishing or it may have failed.

Troubleshooting Steps
1. Wait a few minutes and then click the Refresh button on the list and see if the error returns.
If data is returned, then the issue was a delay in the publishing of the customization extension. You can then move forward with promoting your extension to production.
2. If the error returns, check the compiler error log and fix any issues. Then try publishing again. See the article below on how to review the error log.

Scenario 2: “The source of a Column or Filter must be defined” error
When you attempt to publish to your sandbox environment and the following error message appears: “The source of a Column or Filter must be a field defined on the table referenced by its parent DataItem.”

This is a common error for a field that has been added to the query that relies on another extension as a dependency. This means adding the correct dependency for that field is required for your Popdock Customization extension to publish successfully.
Troubleshooting Steps
1. Check the compiler error log to see the exact fields that are requiring a dependency. See the article below on how to review the error log.

2. Install the same extension that is being used on the sandbox to your production. Be sure that the versions of the extension also match.
3. Remove the field that requires the dependency if it is not needed.
Scenario 3: “Extension compilation failed” error
You attempt a publish or repair and you receive the message: “Extension compilation failed error AL1024: A package with publisher ‘eOne Solutions’, name ‘Popdock for Dynamics 365 Business Central’, and a version compatible with ‘1.0.0.0’ could not be loaded. Symbols for the requested app Popdock for Dynamics 365 Business Central by eOne Solutions 1.0.0.0 could not be found among this tenant’s installed apps. AppGroup Id 14731“.
This is specifically for the Popdock Extension.

This means there is an older version installed. You will need to install a newer version in order to compile your extension.
Troubleshooting Steps
Remove the current version of the Popdock Customization Extension from your Business Central environment. Then go to the Extension Marketplace in Business Central and install the latest version.
You should now be able to confirm that your Popdock Business Central customization extension has published successfully.
