Connection could not be validated when using Excel data source

Using an Excel data source, and receiving an error that says “Connection could not be validated”.  When clicking on Details, the message says “ERROR [IM002][Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified”

If you are on SmartConnect 2018 or lower you need to install  32 Bit Excel/Office ODBC Drivers on each machine with a SmartConnect client on it.  You can download the 32 bit Office 2010 drivers from here Microsoft Excel 2010 Drivers

When you click on the “Download” button it will ask you what version.  Make sure you download the top one that is named “AccessDatabaseEngine.exe” and NOT the second one that says “AccessDatabaseEngine_X64.exe”.  The top one is the 32 bit driver, the bottom one is the 64 bit driver.

If you are on SmartConnect 21 or higher, you actually need the 64 Bit Excel/Office ODBC Drivers on each machine with a SmartConnect client on it.  You can download the 64 bit Office 2010 drivers from the same location Microsoft Excel 2010 Drivers

When you click on the “Download” button it will ask you what version.  Make sure you download the second one that is named “AccessDatabaseEngine_X64.exe” and NOT the top one that says “AccessDatabaseEngine.exe”.  The top one is the 32 bit driver, the bottom one is the 64 bit driver.
