Granting security to SmartConnect windows in GP.

The following resolution was taken from an exercise in the SmartConnect training manual and shows how to grant users access to the SmartConnect Run Map window along with any associated windows and processes. Note that these steps do not cover setting up security inside of SmartConnect. Users in SmartConnect will need permissions to the appropriate windows and maps as well.

Follow these steps to set up GP security for the Run Map window: GP
1. Go to Tools – Setup – System – Security Tasks. This will open the GP Security Task window.
2. Enter RUNMAP as the Task ID, and enter “Run SmartConnect Map” as the Task Name
3. Enter “Allow users to access the SmartConnect Run Map screen” in the Task Description
4. Select Company as the category
5. Select SmartConnect as the Product, Windows as the Type, and Company as the Series
6. Place checkmarks next to the following Operations in the Access List:
SmartConnect Launcher
SmartConnect Process Errors
SmartConnect Run Map
SmartConnect Run Map Process
SmartConnect SQL Background
SmartConnect Table Upgrade

7. Click the Save button and close the window
8. Go to Tools – Setup – System – Security Roles.
9. Enter SMARTCONNECT_BASIC as the Role ID
10. Enter “SmartConnect Basic User” as the Role Name, and enter “SmartConnect Basic User Permissions” as the Role Description
11. Select Company from the Display drop down list
12. Place a checkmark next to the RUNMAP Security Task ID in the list and hit the Save button and close the window
13. Go to Tools – Setup – System – User Security
14. Click the magnifying glass next to the User field and select [your user] as the user
15. Select [your company] as the Company
16. Place a checkmark next to the SMARTCONNECT_BASIC Security Role ID in the list
17. Save and close the window
18. Logout of GP and log back in with the User ID of [your user]
