HELP ARTICLE

SmartConnect Map Setup window will not open

When going to Tools – SmartConnect – Map the window does not open. A small box appears to open.

NOTE: This article only applies to SmartConnect 9 and SmartConnect 10

This can be caused by three different things.

1. The .NET Framework 3.0 has not been installed. Download and install the .NET framework 3.0 or above from the Microsoft website.

2. SmartConnect did not get installed into the correct directory. Follow these steps to completely uninstall and reinstall SmartConnect.
 a. Uninstall eOne SmartConnect using the Windows Add/Remove Programs
 b. Go into C:\Windows\Assembly. In there right click on anything that starts with the words eOne.SmartConnect… After right clicking on them, pick Uninstall
 c. Go into your local Great Plains directory and delete all the dll files that begin with eOne.SmartConnect…
 d. Go into your local Great Plains directory and go into the AddIns subfolder. Delete all the files that begin with eOne.SmartConnect…
 e. Go into IIS Manager and Go into the Websites. Right click on the SmartConnect website and select Delete.
 f. Now perform a complete reinstall of SmartConnect.
 g. After reinstallation you need to unregister your CRM Plug ins. To do this, perform the following.
 h. Add the SmartConnect Maintenance window to your Shortcuts bar by right clicking on Shortcuts and selecting Add – Add Window
 i. When the Add Window Shortcut window opens, select SmartConnect – System – SmartConnect Maintenance
 j. Hit the Add button then the Done button.
 k. Select the SmartConnect Maintenance window from your Shortcuts
 l. In the SmartConnect Maintenance window, select “Unregister All CRM Plugins”
 m. You will need to pull up each CRM to Great Plains map and reregister the plugins for that map.
 n. Open IIS Manager and open up the SmartConnect Website.
 o. On the right side of the IIS manger pane, right-click on the SmartConnect object and select Properties.
 p. Go to the ASP.NET tab and change the ASP.NET version to 2.X
 q. Click OK to close the Properties window.
 r. Open a command prompt (Start – Run – CMD) and type in IISRESET and hit enter. This will restart all your websites.

3. The Visual Studio Toolkit for GP 9.0 needs to be reinstalled.

 a. Go into Windows Add/Remove Programs.
 b. Uninstall the Visual Studio Toolkit for GP 9.0
 c. Run the SmartConnect installer again. It will detect that the Visual Studio Toolkit is missing and will prompt to install it. Select it to install.
 d. The installer will finish and then the SmartConnect installer will launch. Just click cancel since SmartConnect is already installed.
