The following steps will allow you to either edit or reinstall the SmartConnect Scheduler Service.

  1. On the computer where you would like to edit or reinstall the SmartConnect scheduler service, close the SmartConnect application if it is currently running.
  2. Browse the SmartConnect installation folder (by Default: C:\Program Files\eOne Solutions\SmartConnect) and find the file named eOne.SmartConnect.Config.exe.
  3. Right click on the eOne.SmartConnect.Config.exe file and select “Run as Administrator”.
  4. When the SmartConnect Configuration screen appears, you will either be presented with a blank setup window or a setup window that already has the Customer ID saved in it.
  5. If presented with a blank Customer ID, enter your customer ID, and click on the Validate button and then proceed with step 6. If the Customer ID is filled in already, you do not have to do anything, just move ahead to step 6.
  6. In the Configuration window along the bottom the third button will be labeled “Create Windows Service” if the scheduler service is not currently installed. The button will say “Edit Windows Service” if the scheduler service is already installed. Click on which ever button you are presented with to open the “Windows Service” configuration window.

NOTE: The window will be blank when you open it even if you already have the service installed.

  1. Once this window opens, you need to configure the service. The only required fields are the following:
    • Service user – The login name of the account used to run the service. This account will need to have local machine admin rights to run as a Windows service. In my screenshot below, my user is named “eone”.
    • User Password – This is the Windows user password for the account specified as the service user.
    • Domain – This is the domain that the user belongs to. In my screenshot below you can see that my domain is named “demo”.

  1. After typing in the Windows credentials, click on the “Validate Credentials” button. If the username and password is valid, you will get a message that says, “Validation was successful for user“. The user will be the account you typed in the Service User field.
  2. After the user is validated, all you must do is click on the “Save” button in the top left corner. You do not need to click on the Start or Stop buttons, the service will automatically start/restart when you click on the “Save” button.
