How to Connect Popdock to Zendesk Using an API Token

To connect Popdock to Zendesk with an API token, you’ll create an API token in Zendesk and then add a Zendesk connector in Popdock using that token.

Prerequisites
  • Administrator access to your Zendesk account (to manage API tokens).
  • Administrator or connector-management access to your Popdock environment.
  • Your Zendesk subdomain (for example, in popdock.zendesk.com the prefix is “popdock”).

Create an API Token

1. Sign in to Zendesk as an admin.

2. Open the Admin Center and go to Apps and integrations, then choose API Tokens under the API section.

3. Click the Add API Token button to add a new token for Popdock.

4. Give the token a description such as “Popdock”. A description is required. Then click Save to generate a token.

5. Once saved, Zendesk displays the generated token. Copy the token now and store it safely — it is shown only once and can’t be retrieved later — then use it for the Zendesk connector setup in Popdock.

Add the Zendesk Connector in Popdock

1. Sign in to Popdock as a user who can manage connectors.

2. From the Popdock main menu, select Connectors.

3. Click Add connector.

4. From the list of available connectors, select Zendesk.

5. A configuration window for the Zendesk connector will open.

6. In the Zendesk connector setup, select your Connection type as API token.

7. In the Site prefix field, enter your Zendesk subdomain prefix, for example:

  • If your Zendesk URL is mycompany.zendesk.com, enter mycompany.

8. In the Email field, enter the email address associated with the Zendesk account that owns the token.

9. In the API token field, paste the token you created in Zendesk.

10. Review the fields for accuracy, then click Validate to test the connection from Popdock to Zendesk.

11. When validation succeeds, click Connect to create the connector.

Verify Popdock Can See Zendesk Data

1. In Popdock, go to the area where you configure lists or widgets.

2. Add a new list and select the Zendesk connector you just created as the data source.

3. Choose a common entity (for example, Tickets or Users) and load the list.

4. Confirm that records from your Zendesk instance are visible and filterable in Popdock.

If validation fails, double-check that token access is enabled in Zendesk, the token is correct, the email matches the account that owns the token, and the site prefix exactly matches your Zendesk subdomain.
