With Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 R2, a new SmartList was added called Employment History.  It was added to view the new Employment History Tracking feature that was added in GP 2016 R2.

There are scenarios when applying the GP 2016 R2 update that the SmartList doesn’t get created.  Microsoft has released a SmartList Designer import to put it into SmartList.  If you are using SmartList Builder, you are going to want to import a list using SmartList Builder instead of SmartList Designer.

You can find more information on the new feature at the following link: https://mbs.microsoft.com/Files/customer/GP/Downloads/ProductReleases/MDGP_2016R2_Features.pdf

There are two options on importing the Employment History list for SmartList Builder

Option 1:  To import directly into Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 R2 from the web:

  1. In Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 R2, go to Microsoft Dynamics GP – Tools – SmartList Builder – Import.
  2. Select the Import from web tab.
  3. Select the Product of Microsoft Dynamics GP and the Series of Payroll.
  4. Mark the Employment History list for the Builder module you wish to import to.
  5. Click the Import button and let it process.
  6. The list will now be in place, but security will need to be granted to it as needed in your environment.

Option 2:  To download from the web and import manually into Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 R2:

  1. Browse to the following site:  http://www.eonesolutions.com/smartlist-builder/downloads/#templates
  2. Expand the Payroll series and find the Employment History setups in the list.
  3. Click the download icon next to the Employment History list you wish to download and import.
  4. Save the file to a location you can import from in Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 R2.
  5. In Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 R2, go to Microsoft Dynamics GP – Tools – SmartList Builder – Import.
  6. Select the Import from file tab.
  7. Click Add and browse to the xxB_Employment_History.xml file you downloaded in steps 1-4.
  8. Click Open.
  9. Click Import and let it process.
  10. The list will now be in place, but security will need to be granted to it as needed in your environment.
