web service and econnect error codes

Michelle asked 8 years ago
We have a few maps that are accessed through the web service directly not via the Excel Add-in.  When a map fails the only error visible to the end user is the last event of "Map failed".  None of the econnect error codes are displayed with a more detailed explaination.  Is there a method to have these additional messages passed? or is this a characteristic of web-services itself?

var ws = new SmartConnectTest.SmartConnectSoapClient();
var expenseXml = DBUtil.StrGetDataXml("selectGPExpenseReportsXML", conn);
string result= ws.RunMapWithDataTable("expenses", expenseXml);

This is the code being utilized.  The result string is only showing Map Failed and not any of the messages.

Michelle,

What version of Smart Connect are you running?  The first place I would check is the Smart Connect Event Log where the Web service is located for any errors that may be occurring before it even sends the data to eConnect.

Yes, it is obvious that all of the error codes are available in the event services.  The issue is with the programmitic call to the RunMapWithData, not including the full string of error codes and only returning "map failed".  And this has occured with version 10, 2012…. and dont even get me started with 2013…. 🙂  The upgrade wiped out my maps along with getting reg keys has eaten up my day….  I have to laugh or you cry!

Michelle,

I will get a suggestion to the development team on returning better errors from the web service if it is not an eConnect error.

For the maps being lost during the upgrade, I have not heard of that ever happening.  The best option is to send something to support so they can understand what process you went through when upgrading Smart Connect.  For example, you upgraded from version X to version X of Smart Connect.  List the steps you took, etc.

IT IS an econnect error that is not being returned.  The ONLY error is map failed.  I just saw another post this evening experiencing JUST what I did with the maps…  I have lost all of my maps, thank goodness the important ones are on the live.  I will have to spend my hours on recreating the tests… Sorry for my bitter comments,  but you want to charge me for support????  Honestly?

My customer has been using smartconnect for a few years now for an EDI system and because of our tight knit pre-processing, there has been few kick backs.  Yet all we ever get back is "map failed" even though your instructions say a string will be sent back with all of the errors.    NOW it is imperitive that they see the results of the errors, I refuse to let my customer spend time rebuilding the wheel when this product is supposed to produce it.

I followed the insttuctions, backed up all of my databases DID NOT export my map as i wasnt told to.     Uninstalled 2012, checked that my webservice was gone and then re-installed.  What did I miss???   I didnt have reg keys for 2013 but for every map i clicked it removed my mapping…..  At this point i ask!  How do I freaking charge my customer to rebuild a map that was working???? And you want to charge ME for support?  This is insane…… FED UP!

Michelle,

Please send a screen shot of the Event Log to support at support@eonesolutions.com for the web services issue.

If you have a screen shot of the map(s) that is having the issue with the node being unmapped that would be good too.

include your contact information and i'll have someone from support call you on Friday.
