Using a Linked server to create a smartlist

I have a view created that uses a linked server to query some data on another server. But when I try to create a smartlist with that particular view from smartlist builder, I get the following error…
GPS Error: 58
SQL Error: 7405 [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0][SQL Server]Heterogeneous queries require the ANSI_NULLS and ANSI_WARNINGS options to be set for the connection. This ensures consistent query semantics. Enable these options and then reissue your query.
Is there a technique to get past this error? There are a few attempted solutions to this error but none seem to work and nothing current about this issue. If the view returns results, why won’t smartlist builder work with it?
