Here are the steps to completely remove SmartList Builder-

Inside the Addins Folder of the GP 2013 Install – Remove two  .dlls:

In the DYNAMICS.SET in GP 2013 Install Folder –
Change first line, make 1 number less (ex. 38 to 37)
Remove lines:
3830 and SmartList Builder
 :C:Program Files (x86)/Microsoft Dynamics/GP2013/SLBuild.dic
 :C:Program Files (x86)/Microsoft Dynamics/GP2013/Data/F3830.DIC
 :C:Program Files (x86)/Microsoft Dynamics/GP2013/Data/R3830.DIC

In the GP 2013 Install Folder – Remove SLBUILD.DIC, and SLBuild.vba if present.
In the Dynamics.exe.config file in the GP2013 install folder remove these 2 lines:
<addin name="ExcelBuilder" type="eOne.Dynamics.GP.ExcelBuilder.GPAddIn,eOne.Dynamics.GP.ExcelBuilder.Engine,Version=,Culture=neutral,PublicKeyToken=1733967c99f3f7dc"/>
<addin name="DrillDownBuilder" type="DrillDownBuilderWcfToGpAddin.DrillbackWcfDrillDownBuilder,eOne.Dynamics.GP.DrillDownBuilder.Engine,Version=,Culture=neutral,PublicKeyToken=1733967c99f3f7dc"/>

Switch the Database version back using the following:
update DYNAMICS..DU000020 set versionBuild=(select db_verBuild from DYNAMICS..DB_Upgrade where PRODID=3830 and db_name='DYNAMICS') where PRODID=3830

Just walked through this on 2018. Updates: there’s an additional dll to remove (eOne.Dynamics.GP.LibraryImport) and no changes are required to the config file. (Thanks for the help, Mark!)

Trying to remove the SLB from a GP 2018 (18.4) setup and despite all the DLL’s removed, the .DIC file removed and the entry in DYNAMICS.SET, when launching GP it crashes with an error. The Windows Event Log has this entry about some assembly that cannot be found:
Exception Details:
System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly ‘Application.SmartList, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35’ or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
File name: ‘Application.SmartList, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35’
at Microsoft.Dynamics.GP.BusinessIntelligence.BIReportDeploymentGP.BIReportDeploymentGPAddin.Initialize()
at Microsoft.Dexterity.Bridge.AddinManager.LoadAddin(String name, Type type, Boolean checkPlatformAttribute, Int32 currentDexPlatform)

The only way I was able to get rid of the problem was to run a “Repair” on the GP client setup from the control panel. Not sure what that did, but I believe it relinked some libraries in the system to fix the removal of the SL Builder DLL’s.
