SMTP server for Office 365 requires TLS

Alyson Van Alstyne asked 10 years ago
My customer just moved their email to the cloud. The office 365 server needs TLS encryption and that is not an option on the Smartconnect setup window.  Before I go through the effort of setting up an SMTP Relay, I wanted to know if anyone has tested this, and if they have had any success with it.

Hi Alyson

This is not something we have looked at yet.
It is on our list of things to do, but at the moment we do not supprt TLS encryption.

Regards,
Ruaan

Any update on SMTP support for Office 365?  More and more customers of ours are moving to Office 365 and have needs for email notifications from SmartConnect.

Thanks.

Using SmartConnect 2015 and newer you can connect to an Office 365 email account. For your server you will use smtp.office365.com, use port 25 and enable the SSL box. Enter the email address as the username and the password for that account.

Cheers and thanks.
The challenge we are facing is using TLS with GMail rather than Office365, so ticking the SSL box doesn’t work.

John.
