SmartConnect Service Setting – Validation Failed
Hi,
I am trying to configure the Smart Connect Service Setting of the Smart Connect Excel Add-In, I am checking the Smart Connect Service Url and it is right, also the Username and Password are the correct to run maps into Smart Connect but trying to Validate it fails. Smart Connect shows a message like this: “Validation Failed.”
Do you have any idea about how to solve this issue?
Thanks,
Alberto.

Alberto,
You say that the web service URL is correct, are you able to browse to it from the machine where the Excel Add-In is installed? Is it the SmartConnect.svc web service?
What user do you have assigned to the application pool of the Web Service? Verify this user is set up in SmartConnect Security.

Was there a resolution to this question? I am having the same issue. I can browse to the smartconnect.asmx. I am trying to connect to the service by using the user that was setup to run the smartconnect service. That user is setup in smartconnect security.
John, what version of the excel add-in are you using? The 2013/2016 Excel Add-in uses the WCF Rest service smartconnect.svc and NOT the ASMX web service. http://www.eonesolutions.com/Manuals/SmartConnect/SmartConnect%202016/?page=gp_excel_add-in
Is the WCF Service REQUIRED for SC 2018 to use the SmartConnect Excel Add-in 20.18.0.10. The SC documentation says Web Service OR the WCF Service
Web Service – this or the wcf service is required if this install is to be used to process Dynamics CRM real time data sources, Dynamics GP real time data sources, Dynamics GP SmartList data sources, data pushes from the SmartConnect Excel Add-In, or run other processes via the SmartConnect web service. Note: only one web service install is required to support these processes.

We are not using WCF but the SmartConnect.asmx.
