Scheduled Map is Rounding dollars on One Column but Running Manually Does Not

Matt Paulen asked 3 years ago
We’ve recently set up a new Payables Transaction map.  It’s using a csv file format.  It runs perfectly when ran manually and debits and credits match.  When we set it up to run as a schedule, one of the columns (credits for distributions) rounds to the whole dollar which causes the transactions to be out of balance of course.  I can open up the file in notepad and can see that the data is not rounded in the file (also easily noticed because it runs fine when run manually).  I can also save the csv file as an xlsx file and then the schedule will run as it should.
I’d like to figure out why this is happening when it is a csv file.  We can only download it as a csv file so having the user download it and make them open it up just to save it as an xlsx file seems like an unneeded step.  Especially when trying to explain to them why they need to do it.
Any thoughts on this?

Rounded or truncated?

If truly rounded (3.75->4.00) then you’d have to look in your code to see the rounding code that you have.

More likely it is truncated (3.75->3.00 or 3.15->3.00).

Press the create schema button and make sure your column is set to money or float and NOT integer.

It was truncating. I checked and it was set to Float in the schema. I changed it to Currency and that seems to have resolved the issue. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Just out of curiosity, why would running it manually versus through a schedule have a different behavior?

I don’t have a real good answer for that but it might depend on the location of the file (local or unc path to server) and type of source.
