scheduled maintenance

Hi,
I have setup a few tracking maps to track sql change records and am using that in another map.
I have also setup the scheduled maintenance to remove records after 7 days.
I have checked every single map I have setup like that and the maintenance never runs?
The smartconnect service is definitely running.
What triggers the maintenance to run?
