Newest version and SQL

Joseph asked 4 years ago
We are using SQL2014 with all databases at the 120 level. But, due to issues with the new cardinality estimator and SmartConnect we have been having to use the trace flag –T9481 on SQL service startup to disable the new cardinality editor.
Have these issues been resolved such that the trace flag can be removed from the startup parameters ?

This was fixed with SmartConnect 2015 and SmartConnect 2016.  But we found it to be broken again in SmartConnect 20.17.0.17.  We anticipate this will be fixed again in an upcoming service pack.

Hmmm. Last time I asked I got this response:
“Well I have good news and bad news. It’s fixed in SmartConnect 2015, but it’s broke again in SmartConnect 2016. So you will have to leave the trace flag enabled.”
How can this regression keep occurring ?
