Need to be alerted when smart connect fails

Rod asked 5 years ago
Often times an error occurs when a smart connect map begins, for example, when a CSV file is formatted incorrectly. I do not see a way to use the email task this early in the process. Is there a way? Or more generally, can I setup smart connect to send an email any time there is an error, over all, for all maps?

Thanks

“I do not see a way to use the email task this early in the process”

you can use an Email Task in any of the Map events other than the “Map data checks” task.
But in general, I don’t know how you would be able to easily detect “incorrectly formatted csv files” although maybe a Map Data Check task would tell if you if know for sure the data in X column will always exist and use something like that.
But for some reason, that is the one task that doesn’t send us an email.  Seems like it maybe should but can’t today anyway.

no, it has to be defined on a map by map basis.
however you can make an email template using Maintenance | Templates and then when you set the map up make the new email task and then load the template.

Thank you Patrick, I am not sure I see how to specifically follow the steps to… “make the new email task and then load the template.” Would there be an example I could review from the template site?
