(L) field

asked 5 months ago

What does the (L) indicate in front of certain fields when selecting key fields for a window?  There are fields that start with an (L) and other fields that just have the typical field name reference.

The (L) in front of a field means it is a field type/name that exists only on that window.  Within the GP/Dexterity environment, you could create a single field type with a name.  If you used that field in a table or window it would have the same properties all the type.

Depending on the need, the developers would create local fields for most, if not all windows but they also used globally defined fields.

To Extender, there is no difference between a Local Field and Global Field
