Hello:

There is a "logs" folder that you can create for SmartConnect 2012 through the Setup window.

What is this for?

The reason that I'm confused on this is because I know that the "Use Logs" checkbox allows you to create a header and line view in the SmartConnect database.  And, the "View Map Log" selection only allows for debugging.

So, again, what is the logs folder for?

Under the "Use Logs" section, if you mark "Log XML" it will place the XML files for each document into the folder you specify in the setup window.  Lorren
