Installation Error

I have been through all the processes to setup my trial but get an error after it attempts to install
Where can I find the log files or how do I track down what’s causing this?
It’s a brand new Windows Server 2016 Datacenter hosted as an Azure VM. The only thing I’ve installed is SQL server 2014R2 and added Dot Net 3.5

The error message isn’t explicit (ie just says “failed”).  But in my experience, that likely means that you chose to install the eOne Web Services but you didn’t install IIS on this machine.
When SC tries then to install the web service in IIS, it fails since it isn’t installed.
SOlutions: install IIS or unmark those options on the install.
Also, for SmartConnect, you need .NET4.5 ( I would recommend installing the latest 4.6x version).
