Frequent Locks in the SmartConnect Activity Window

Hello:
Very frequently, we’re finding several maps getting locked in the SmartConnect Activity window by the SmartConnect/eConnect services user.  Yes, we free up these maps by clicking the minus sign.  
But, is there anything that can be done in terms of speeding up the processing of maps and preventing such deadlocks in SmartConnect Activity?
