Flow of Data with Maps on Other Servers

We are looking to move our SmartConnect installation to another/separate server. It has been installed on the database server that receives or sends the data.
My question is if SmartConnect resides on Server A, and the map is moving data from Server B to Server C, does the data ever flow through Server A…? Or is it straight between Servers B and C…?

Andrew,

The data will flow through Server A in your scenario. SmartConnect pulls the data from Server B and processes all the data on Server A. From there it will push the final result to Server C.
