Failure Sending Email Error asked 9 years ago
I am testing SmartPost and, though batches are successfully being posted, the emailing of reports is failing.  The event viewer doesn't provide much detail on the cause of the email error so I am looking for some help.

The specific error message is:
Error emailing reports for batch : SP_TEST_5 in company : <Company Name> to : < email_address@email_provider> Failure sending mail.

The info provided by Event Log Online Help is as follows:
Product Name:   Microsoft .Net Framework
Product Version:  2.0.50727.4927
Event ID:    0
Event Source:   SmartPost
Locale ID:   1033

Some things to check for emails.
1. Can the machine running Smart Post access the mail server
2. Are the user credentials to the mail server correct.
3. Are there any restrictions on the mail server that would pervent mail from being sent from certain machines.  For example, could the server have an IP address that is blocked from sending mail.
4.  Does the customer have Smart Connect?  If so, set up the email credentials in Smart Connect Setup and use the Test button to see if they work in that instance.
