Failed to connect to CRM server

This weekend something freaked out with CRM and ADFS. I’ve fixed it now, but SmartConnect is giving me the “Failed to connect to CRM server” and “An unsecured or incorrectly secured fault was received from the other party. See the inner FaultException for the fault code and detail.”
We’re running D365 on premise 8.2.2 and SmartConnect 20.17.0.17. Is this something to do with the security token timeout or some problem with ADFS? I don’t have any issues logging into CRM from the web client.

So, on a whim, I did an iisreset on the CRM server. Everything is working again.
