CRM Online as data source for the map

Hi,
I am trying to setup CRM online as my data source. I have configured CRM connector with no issues. However, when trying to run maintenance, I am running into this error:

Error: Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011- An error occurred while Re-Registering ‘Real Time Event’ ‘Update’ for ‘Connector ‘SmartConnect Dynamics CRM Connector’: Metadata contains a reference that cannot be resolved: ‘https://xxxx.api.crm.dynamics.com/XRMServices/2011/Organization.svc?wsdl&sdkversion=8.2’.

Upon reading this thread I have realized maybe my version of Smart Connect is not correct:

We have just updated to 20.17.0.17 this past weekend. Is there anything else I am missing?

Eugene,
This error is because you are on CRM 9 which has an updated API. We have included this in SmartConnect 2018 which was released last week. You will need to upgrade to resolve the error.

I was suspecting this 🙂

Any suggestions regarding the upgrade? We have plenty of running maps – primarily on real time MS SQL data sources (GP tables and some are Extender tables) and I am concerned about integrity of our real data source definitions, maps and mappings.

Should I assume upgrade preserves everything as is and it should be pretty transparent operation? We will save backups of everything, but just want to hear if there is any advice you have.

Eugene,
An upgrade won’t break GP real-time connections. All of your maps will be upgraded as is. As long as you don’t move the SmartConnect database no connections will be lost.
