CRM 2011 SmartConnect 2012 – no endpoint listening

bruce.jones@solutects.com asked 10 years ago
Working in CRM 2011 only with SmartConnect 2012.  Real-Time data map is failing under System Jobs in the CRM UI.

I am getting no errors anywhere else that I can find.  I tried following a couple threads that looked similar to my issue but nothing is altering this error.

I can browse to the URL that is setup in my SmartConnect Setup page but I get an odd response when clicking Invoke.  I get just a couple lines of XML and not sure if this is what to expect or not.

This is the text from the error.

Unhandled Exception: Microsoft.Xrm.Sdk.InvalidPluginExecutionException: Plugin processing failed : Web service call failed : There was no endpoint listening at http://sqlwin2008r2:5556/SmartConnect/SmartConnect.asmx that could accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more details.

Have you checked if you have the plugin for current version of SmartConnect?
If not, you can refer to Plugin Assembly part of the KB below to check the version number and fix it if require:

They match.

Are yo using online CRM or on-premises?
CRM online would never be able to find the URL as web service has been set locally. If you are using on premises CRM, check if you have access to the Url from CRM machine.

I am on-prem.  I cannot browse to the service from the CRM server.

I'll have to take a look at that issue – hope it is not beyond my skill set.

Thanks for the help – first thing that I have looked at that was not right!

Had my IT guy alter the firewall on the servers and everything appears to be working now.

Thanks!
