Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Dynamics.GP.eConnect, Version=, Culture=neutral…

Alberto asked 7 years ago
I have a map that has a Microsoft GP Real-Time Data Source and Microsoft Dynamics GP Destination. I registered the map and then I tried to test it, in the Debug Log I can see an error like this:
“Could not load file or assembly ‘Microsoft.Dynamics.GP.eConnect, Version=, Culture=neutral,  PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35’ or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.”
I am working with SmartConnect 2014 ( and I had installed eConnect 12.0
I hope you can help me!

That could mean that you don’t have the right GP Version selected in the Microsoft Dynamics GP Connector setup within SmartConnect setup. Also, make sure that eConnect is installed on every machine where SmartConnect is running.

Hi Lorren,
I encounter the same problem after I switched the SC 2014 to GP2013 from GP2010 and installed the eConnect library from the GP2013R2 DVD addin folder…
SC 2014 is installed on a different system than the actually GP2013R2 database server.. does that mean I need to install eConnect on the SQL server as well ?

PS: I just checked and eConnect 12.0 is also installed on the GP DB side..

“does that mean I need to install eConnect on the SQL server as well “

eConnect needs to be installed on every machine that is running SmartConnect.

Hi Patrick – would that include “client” users/end users who have SmartConnect installed locally? Even if we have eConnect installed on the server where we have GP installed, they need eConnect installed as well? Thanks!

Yes, it looks like eConnect is required on every machine where the SmartConnect console app will be installed.. I ran into the same issue.. Doesn’t sound logic to me, but that’s the way it works.
