Authentication od map web service

We are a SmartConnect 2014 R2 user running under Dynamics GP 2015 and Windows Server 2012 R2. We wish to expose a SmartConnect web service to external service suppliers (not in our domain, in their own AD domain, outside of our firewall) for them to integrate to/from. We need to authenticate the caller and allow them access to appropriate SmartConnect maps associated with their user. By preference we also should encrypt the traffic using SSL. Could you please provide us with guidance
