Access rights to Modified existing smart list report using smart list builder

Ramanan asked 2 years ago
Hi All,
I have modified existing “Items” smart list using smart list builder and saved. Now in the security task screen i could see two smart list reports Items and Items*.
Now i want to assign each smart list to different set of users. Example Items (not modified) to few users and Items* (modified) to some users.
But the one without modified original is not working and when we assign modified it shows. How to split the rights to users between modified and original smart list reports.
Please let me know.

What do you mean exactly by “the one without modified original is not working”?
You mean that report doesn’t work?
Or do you mean “the report doesn’t show in the list”?
What you are doing with SmartList security is correct – give rights to one report vs another.
However in this case I THINK what you are suggesting is that the for those users that get the original SmartList – they can’t see it in the list.  I think I had looked into this at one point and recall that behavior.
The issue is that by default SLB hides any smartlists that have a SLB equivalent.  So if they don’t have access to the SLB version of this, we end up removing the original and now the user has nothing.
The only workaround that I can think of is if you add the dex.ini switch:
This tells SLB to NOT hide the original report.  Should do the trick.
